Program Details
We are a 9 month a year program, operating September-May with the months of June, July and August off.
We respect each family’s choice to participate in as much or as little of our program as suits each family. We fully support traveling families and unschooling families who are looking for a home-base or community in Southern California. However, payment is due the 1st of the month September-May in order to hold your student’s spot in the program, regardless of attendance.
We are an outdoor education program and meet weekly regardless of weather, with the exception of heavy rainfall. Please plan accordingly.

Wide-ruled, composition book with 2-3 pencils
Close-toed shoes; preferably boots
Hat and long-sleeved shirts for warmer months

Enrollment for the 2025-2026 School Year is now Open
Please complete the application below in order to apply to Harvest Outdoor Education for the 2025-2026 school year. Please be sure to submit a different application for EACH student applying. For some families, this may mean submitting 2-3 applications for 2-3 children. Applications should be thorough and thoughtful. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Once all applications are reviewed, a Harvest Administrator will be in touch. Ideally, we hope to schedule video interviews with interested families throughout April and submit acceptance and waitlist letters by the 1st week of May.
“Being outdoors can inspire further reading about natural history, can give journal prompts for emerging writers, and may lead to a longing for nature-themed living stories, fables, and poetry. Nature study is not an extracurricular exercise but is fundamental to shaping the scientific skills children need to enhance study, observation, attention, and recall.”
